Serve as Jesus served

Jesus Christ is our model in everyday living and service. When He called us to follow Him as “fishers of men”, He has laid down some ground rules to follow & practice in our daily living. In Mathew 20:20-28, Jesus clearly states how we should earnestly strive to be a servant to others. read more..

The phase of life that is filled with so much energy, passion and enthusiasm is adolescence. This is a very critical time period because it is where important decisions about life are made. During this stage you consider choices about the path of your career, relationships, beliefs and morals.

According to research 77% of the people who make a decision for Christ do so between the ages of 18 and 22 (http://battlecry.com). In another study made by Lifeway Research (http://www.lifeway.com), around 70% of young people leave the church between the age of 18 and 22. At such a crucial moment in life, I believe that if we are not careful we will lose a whole generation of young people.

Even as believers you may think that it will not happen among our youth (Indians). But just take a moment and look around to the state of the younger adults in our Keralite churches. It should make us wonder why they are leaving our churches and why they are less interested in spiritual matters.

As part of the Youth Department of the Atlanta Church of God, our prayer is that our youths would be challenged to grow in the Lord. With the grace of our Lord we need to do our best to regain our younger generation back for Christ.

Worship Leader : Collins Chacko

The term ‘Praise and Worship’ means to regard a quintessence of God with great devotion or to revere as a divine being. Worship is not about what makes us glad, but what makes God happy. When God becomes exultant, pleased with us, that delight is reflected back into us by him. Many times our worship is limited to mere performance, an impersonal presentation of expressions and songs, but not authentic.

There are several actions involved with worshipping God — verbal expressions of admiration and thanksgiving, singing, playing instruments, dancing, clapping our hands, but true worship is not simply going through these motions. In Mathew 15:8, Jesus spoke about the double standards of the Pharisees and Sadducees, whose worship was only an outward display and not from the heart. “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me”(v.8). God expects our praises and worship to be genuine, sincere from within. More than any practical applications, our worship should develop into a lifestyle where the spiritual worship is revealed through our obedience and love towards God. We should never forget the fact that worship will be one day our eternal activity, and that our practice of worship here on earth is perhaps our most significant preparation for the life to come.
